Before a large gathering of local media and community leaders, the Coliseum Coalition held a press conference today on the steps of the Mid-South Coliseum to share a vision for the building’s future, as well as present more cost-effective alternative sites for a 901 FC soccer stadium.

That future is a mixed-use facility with strong neighborhood ties that could be a home to any number of things, including the arts, sports, museums, community or youth education space. In fact, among the many potential uses for the Mid-South Coliseum mentioned at today’s media event, the possibility of a professional wrestling venue or museum got perhaps the most positive reaction from the crowd.

”Part of the whole mixed-use redevelopment (idea) is that wrestling absolutely could be a part of it, I would argue should be a part of it,” says the Coliseum Coalition’s Marvin Stockwell.
